At his friends' insistence, Kenshin tells a story about one of his journeys. While visiting Yokohama, Kenshin meets a rickshaw puller, Dankichi. As they introduced themselves, a woman collapses nearby; Dankichi's passenger, a foreigner known as Dr. Elder, begins to treat her. They were confronted by Deian Ishizu, a greedy doctor who wants to monopolize Western medicine and despises Dr. Elder's treatment of the poor. Ordering his men to kill the woman, Kenshin defeats them while Dankichi takes the woman to a hospital...
