The battle turns into one of endurance as Raiden's muscles are deteriorating while Shiva's body is burning. Eventually, Shiva destroys Raiden's arm. Raiden realizes he cannot win now and asks Thrud to separate from him so she will not die, but she says she loves him and will share his fate. Shiva decapitates him, killing Thrud as well, and praises him as a worthy opponent, expressing amazement that he never managed to knock Raiden down the entire match. Shiva limps out of the arena and tells the gods that humans are strong...
