Oliver and Nanao battle Miligan, with Nanao revealing she can parry incoming spells with her sword. With Oliver's help, she manages to get behind Miligan for a pincer attack, only for Miligan to reveal a second basilisk eye in the palm of her left hand. Nanao spontaneously invents a new "spellblade" – in the lore of the series, a sword arts technique that can neither be dodged nor blocked, guaranteeing the wielder's victory – and severs Miligan's hand at the wrist; she falls unconscious. Katie regains consciousness no worse for wear and decides all's well that ends well, reducing Oliver to tears of happiness...
