Opaline begins her attack on Equestria, using the Together Trees and her captured dragons to steal cutie marks everywhere. As Hitch mobilizes the Maretime Bay population, the other ponies watch over the Unity Crystals and the dragons take Sparky to face Opaline at her castle. The castle's Together Tree only began to connect to the others after Misty befriended the ponies, allowing Opaline to travel between them. After warning Hitch to keep ponies away from the Maretime Bay tree, Pipp and Zipp spread the word to Zephyr Heights while Izzy does the same in Bridlewood. Opaline brainwashes all the dragons except Sparky, traps him and Spike, and invades Maretime Bay. Hitch holds her off for a time, but she eventually overpowers him and takes his cutie mark, weakening the magic spell that protects the Crystal Brighthouse.
