Description

The Old Country Bumpkin Goes to the Capital Beryl Gardinant works as a sword fighting trainer in a remote country dojo. Though he had dreams of becoming an adventurer, he settled for becoming a sword trainer and was able to teach many students who became accomplished warriors. One day, one of his old students, Royal Order of Knights commander Allucia, arrives at his home. Allucia explains that she recommended Beryl to be a special instructor for the Liberion Order, which was approved by the king. Unable to refuse an Imperial Order, Beryl travels to the capital city of Baltrain with Allucia, where he introduces himself to the soldiers of the Liberion Order and reunites with another former student, Curuni. Upon returning home, Beryl finds out another former student, Randrid, has decided to retire from adventuring after starting a family and moved back to the village. Beryl's father arranged Randrid to take over dojo so Beryl can stay in Baltrain and hopefully find a wife. Returning to Baltrain, Beryl encounters another former student, Surena, who has become Allucia's rival. During his first training session, Beryl is challenged to a duel by the Order's vice commander, Henblitz. While Henblitz has the advantage in speed and strength, Beryl is able use his experience to predict Henblitz's moves and defeat him, winning his and the Order's respect. Back at the village, Beryl's father and Randrid reflect on how Beryl's sword skills are actually unmatched, and hope he can make a name for himself in the capital.
